Sending off our Sophmore

Yesterday we left our college Sophmore son here at college a much different young man than last year. He is so much more confident , happy and therefore so are we his parents. We had an incredible day. We dipped our toes in the Frog Pond, walked the length of Newbury Street, ate a sausage in the Common, met his Freshman roommate , and checked out his girlfriend's new 4th floor walk up apartment in the North End. We ended a perfect Labor Day with a perfect meal together at the rooftop Restaurante Fiore in the North End. In the end my hubby and I walked back up to Beacon Hill where we had lucked out and gotten a free parking spot and counted our blessings for our teenage son who has fallen in love, set his sights on making the Dean's list this year, and is looking to take a paid internship to make ends meet and pay his way. He is such a fine young man. No tears like last year, but there was a pit in my stomach and there were a few text messages back and forth today... and I am happy to say he said "Miss You" first!!! How lucky am I?
